Musicians stage benefit for downtown icon

Local musicians are banding together in an effort to support local artists … and take the historic Bonnie Kate Theater

The curtain will go up on the Support Local Art concert at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Bonnie Kate Theater in downtown Elizabethton, and will include 25 local musicians playing on three stages at the theater.
The concert is being organized by Tammy Buchanan and her son Jordan Buchanan, who is a local musician. Tammy said the goal of the concert is to help build support for local musicians and to help provide funding for efforts to restore the original stage in the Bonnie Kate. With the Bonnie Kate’s new focus on live entertainment, the refurbished stage would provide more local musicians and artists with a place to perform.
