Mrs. Carter County wins awards at Texas EXPO

Mrs. Carter County Amy Simmons won first- and second-place awards at the Model and Talent EXPO in Dallas, Texas, on June 17.

Simmons competed with over 1,400 individuals in the first round of the competition to become one of 10 to be selected for the final round. She won first place in the dance category and second place in sophisticate model photography.

Simmons is the artistic director at Dancer’s Dreams Performing Arts Academy in Elizabethton. She has also owned her studio in Christiansburg, Va., for 22 years. She teaches weekly classes for children in tap, ballet, creative movement, children’s beginning tumbling, hip-hop, ballet Bollywood and she directs the Covered Bridge Cloggers and the professional clogging team, the Dixie Dream Dancers.
