RICHMOND, Va. — When UT-Chattanooga’s new athletic director David Blackburn called upon assistant Will Wade for its men’s basketball job, VCU head coach Shaka Smart didn’t have to look far to fill the vacant position.
Two years of observation and work behind-the-scenes on one of the brightest men’s basketball staffs in the country paid off for Elizabethton-native Mike Morrell, who earned a promotion from his Director of Basketball Operations post into an assistant coaching role, Smart announced Thursday.
“Mike has been a valuable member of our staff for the past two years,” said Smart. “We’re excited about him assuming this new role.”
