The big man was in town on Monday, and as usual he is highly impressed with the product at his organization’s rookie league club.
Terry Ryan, veteran general manager of the Minnesota Twins, travels to Elizabethton once a summer. He doesn’t expect the reigning Appalachian League champions to let him down this campaign.
“It is certainly a good spot for our early-drafted kids, and some of the kids that are teenagers of course,” Ryan said at Joe O’Brien Field before the doubleheader against the Burlington Royals. “It’s a good place to get their feet on the ground in professional baseball. This has been a good affiliate for us for years with the host families.
