Three white dogwood trees were planted Wednesday at the Tipton-Haynes State Historic Site to honor three Watauga Historical Association members who died during the past year.
A ceremony sponsored by the association was held for Ralph “Pat” Diddle, Wanda McEwen Murray and Jessica Murray Arnold. Murray and Arnold lived in Carter County and Diddle lived in Johnson City.
Family members, current WHA members and others gathered for the ceremony, which began at 5 p.m. near the entrance to Tipton-Haynes. The trees were planted on the right side of the gravel driveway leading into the historic site from South Roan Street.
