Susan Elizabeth McClellan and Ned Stanley Zeiler were united in marriage on Saturday, September 3, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Bristol. Dr. Gordon A. Turnbull performed the double-ring ceremony in the church courtyard with an intimate gathering of family and friends.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Rutledge McClellan of Bristol. She is the granddaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Hugh Emerson McClellan and Elizabeth Leake Ramey of Prestonsburg, Ky., and the late James Roy Ramey.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Dean Zeiler of Watauga. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ned Singleton Zeiler and the late Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Young.
Wedding music was provided by Benjamin Dawson, violin; Cameron Lugo, violin; and Bethany Dawson, violoncello.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a classic ivory linen sheath gown featuring a sleeveless silhouette, fitted cross front bodice and floor-length straight skirt.
For her headpiece, she wore a satin edged silk tulle fingertip veil.
She carried a bouquet of white garden roses wrapped with the McClellan family tartan. She wore her Grandmother McClellan’s diamond dinner ring, and pinned to her bouquet were wedding bands from both her Grandmother McClellan and her Grandmother Ramey.
The matron of honor was Jennifer Rogers Dyer of Bristol, childhood friend of the bride.
The best man was Joseph Dean Zeiler of Watauga, father of the groom.
The ring bearers were Connor Rutledge McClellan and Colton Emerson McClellan of Mount Juliet, nephews of the bride.
Ushers were James Emerson McClellan of Mount Juliet, brother of the bride, and Lieutenant Jacob Range Zeiler of Colorado Springs, Colo., brother of the groom.
A luncheon reception was held following the ceremony in the 1928 Sessions Room at KP on Bank Street, Bristol.
