A larger opponent invaded their home turf, but Elizabethton’s girls soccer team didn’t back down.
Although the final result didn’t go in their favor, the Lady Cyclones held their heads high after a strong defensive effort in a 2-0 loss to Maryville Wednesday evening at Brown-Childress Stadium
“We played a very good team,” said Elizabethton coach Bill McClay. “We knew it was going to be a tough match, but we’ve been playing very well as of late — since we played C.A.K. over at Science HIll, we’ve stepped up our game.
“We played smart. Our first half was better, but they were a little deeper and able to sup and keep fresher legs on the field.”
