Longhorns stun Highlanders

It didn’t take the “Wizard of Oz” for Johnson County to learn that there was no place like home on Monday. Playing inside of Ray Shoun Gymnasium for the first time in nine games, the Longhorns shocked Cloudland 71-69 in boys action. The Lady Highlanders evened the score with a 46-36 win in girls varsity play.

Johnson County’s Dalton Timbs ended the game with 23 points. Brian Dempsey added a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds before fouling out with 3:17 remaining. J.R. Speed and Chris Poteet finished with 12 apiece.
Zac Potter tossed in 28 points for the Highlanders.

Brooke Rhodes led the way with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Courtney Wilson provided 12 points and eight boards while Martina Presnell dished out five assists and scored seven.
Brionna Reece led the Lady Longhorns with a double-double: 17 points and 11 rebounds.
