BRISTOL — It is quickly becoming the area’s best small college rivalry with people involved having tie-ins to each others school, and Carter County was well represented on the court and on the bench when Lees-McRae and King went at each other on Monday night at the King College Convocation Center.
Representing King College was Nathaniel Hughes, Brooke Johnson, Mikki Oliver and Chelsea Bowling while the Bobcats’ side was represented by head coach Steve Hardin. In addition, Elizabethton’s Justin Wandell is being redshirted at Lees McRae this year.
The Lady Tornado won the women’s game 61-44 and the King College men defeated the Bobcats by a very deceptive score of 72-48.
A rising young head men’s basketball coach, three very good women’s players and a young man from Hampton still getting his feet wet in the collegiate game are all making this county very, very proud.
