Gun stores in Elizabethton are in the midst of another post-election sales boom as more local residents exercise their right to bear arms.
Tommy Isaacs, who with his brother, Brian, owns The Tri-Cities Gun Depot on Elk Avenue, said sales of guns, ammunition and accessories shot through the roof three months before the presidential election and have stayed strong.
“The biggest seller is probably the AR-15,” Isaacs said, motioning to a row of semiautomatic rifles lining the wall behind the store’s counter. “But we’re selling a lot of handguns and the accessories, too.”
Since business exploded, Isaacs said sales of AR-15s and AK-47s have doubled to nearly 100 per month.
