For the third straight spring, the Cobb Riddle-Deacon Bowers Boxing Championships were a phenomenal success at the Elizabethton Parks & Recreation Center.
The gymnasium was packed, taking in the 18-bout card of amateur action on Saturday night.
“People in Elizabethton, they love boxing,” Riddle said. “They always have, and way before I got involved, even in the Don Marshall days — Deacon, Jackie Range and all of those guys. When I got in boxing, it was always popular in Elizabethton.
“We just need somebody to come back, and jump in there and start coaching. You can learn as you go.”
