It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s … nope, it’s Super Hero day at the Elizabethton/Carter County Public Library.
The ECCPL will turn into a hot spot for aspiring superheroes on Feb. 23, when the library hosts Super Hero Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Super Hero Saturday is a partnership between the local library and Hands On! Regional Museum’s outreach program.
Children’s Librarian Ashlee Williams said the outreach program had visited the library previously, during the Summer Reading Program. The program coordinator contacted the library and wanted to do a program in the winter.
“They wanted to give the children and their families something to do in the winter so they can get out of the house and have some fun,” Williams said. “There are usually fewer activities in the winter.”
Williams said Super Hero Saturday would feature different hero-themed activities for young readers and their trusty adult sidekicks to take part in. Children will have the chance to make their own comic book, make a hero mask and have a photo made as their superhero alter-ego.
