Library opens new chapter in car show story

All pint-sized drivers are being called on to show off their rides during the Elizabethton/Carter County Public Library’s Kiddie Car Show and Touch-A-Truck this Saturday.

The library will host its first Kiddie Car Show in conjunction with the Carter County Car Club’s large annual car show; the full-size event will be held all day on July 13.

The Kiddie Car Show invites children age 10 and under to decorate their bicycle, tricycle, wagon, scooter, Big Wheels or any other kid-powered transportation to display in the show.

Children’s Librarian Ashlee Williams said the library had decided to host the Kiddie Car Show to bring more visitors to the library during the large car show event and to possibly introduce a new generation of families to the car show.

“We are typically not very busy when they have the all-day show,” Williams said. “ We thought of doing this to bring kids and families in to the library, and it could introduce a new generation to the car show that may not have come before.”
