Leffler’s death resonates throughout racing community

BRISTOL — When the motorsports world loses a member of the racing family, it touches the profession.
Wednesday night’s death of NASCAR driver Jason Leffler hit home for a lot of NHRA drivers, who arrived in Bristol Thursday to prepare for this weekend’s Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway.
Since 2004, the drag racing series has had five fatalities in accidents on the track, including those of Funny Car racer Eric Medlen and Top Fuel driver Scott Kalitta. Albeit a different series and form of racing, news of the Sprint Car accident at Bridgeport Speedway in New Jersey certainly resonated with fellow drivers.
