Three weeks ago, Happy Valley girls coach Larry Abel said his team would be a threat come tournament time.
The Lady Warriors certainly lived up to his billing.
Using stingy defense and a perimeter attack keyed by Mackenzie Blankenship’s 24-point performance, the Tribe followed Friday’s last-second thriller by stunning top-seed Unicoi County with a 47-28 win in Saturday’s District 1-AA girls semifinal at Treadway Gym.
