JOHNSON CITY — Happy Valley kicked off its softball season with a nice victory Wednesday, knocking off University High 8-2 at Indian Trail Middle School.
The Lady Warriors were deadlocked 2-2 going into the last inning, but scored six runs to avoid defeat. And the first three batters in the inning were all freshmen.
Kalee Johnson led off with a single and Sydney Puckett reached on an error. Kenzie Davis followed with her third hit of the game to put the Warriors on top, and then the floodgates opened.
Allison Williams had a two-run base hit, driving home Kaitlin Campbell — who had reached on a bunt single.
