A victory was drawn up perfectly for Hampton. With a pair of pivotal insurance runs in the top of the sixth inning, the Lady Bulldogs had a four-run lead with three outs to secure.
Their opponent, however, woke up when it mattered most.
After leaving eight runners stranded, Unaka took advantage of two errors and a trio of hits from the bottom of its order to score four seventh-inning runs and stun their conference rival 7-6 on Senior Day Thursday at Ronnie Hicks Field.
