Lady Jr. Cyclones win Area 1-AAA crown

KINGSPORT — A sluggish start turned into a fast finish for the T.A. Dugger Lady Jr. Cyclones on Thursday evening in the TMSAA Area 1-AAA tournament championship game played at John Sevier Middle School.
TAD (22-3) trailed by four after one period, but foul trouble hit Liberty Bell’s 6-1 post Leanne Scharberg — and the Lady Patriots saw that early lead evaporate as TAD rallied to a 42-32 victory.

The Junior Cyclones could not overcome a poor-shooting opening half in which they hit just 2-for-11 from the charity stripe while Liberty Bell feasted on fast-break buckets.
TAD trailed 31-13 by the break and things did not improve much in the second half as the Patriots simply outplayed TAD on this night.
