JOHNSON CITY — Elizabethton controlled possession for the majority of the 80 minutes, but University High’s defense delivered.

The Lady Jr. Bucs stifled four Lady Cyclone corner kicks and took advantage of a pair of open opportunities in a 2-0 conference victory Tuesday evening at Civitan Park.

Elizabethton outshot University High 12-9, had four corner opportunities to the home team’s one, committed less fouls and had more saves.

“It was a good game,” said Elizabethton coach Bill McClay. “We played well enough to not have lost 2-0. That doesn’t mean we played well enough to win, but, if you were here and, depending on what part of the game you were watching, if somebody was to say, ‘Oh, it was a 2-0 game!’ ‘Really? That’s not what I saw.’ It takes the whole 80 minutes.”
