The Lady Highlander ship was sailing smoothly in the overtime period and appeared headed toward victory, but poor shot selection and a couple of critical turnovers would sink their vessel at the end.
North Greene avenged an earlier home loss to Cloudland with a 51-47 overtime win inside a packed Sonny Smith Gymnasium Friday night.
The ’Landers forced the extra period when Brooke Rhodes blocked a potential game-winning shot at the end of regulation after Courtney Wilson’s jumper had tied the game at 42 all with 46 seconds remaining.
They proceeded to score the first four points in overtime and had the ball with a chance to run off some critical seconds. Instead, they took a few bad shots that drew less iron than a thimble could draw water.
