A roller-coaster game saw Elizabethton finally put away a pesky group of Lady Blue Devils 62-46 inside of Treadway Gymnasium Friday night in Three Rivers Conference play.
’Betsy’s 18-point lead to start in the third quarter appeared to be comfortable, like lying on a new pillow-top mattress. But instead it turned into a punctured water bed and nearly deflated before the Lady Cyclones could get it repaired.
“We got in foul trouble and had to play a lot of kids tonight,” said Elizabethton coach Len Dugger. “We got a big lead in the first half, but came out in the second and rushed a lot of shots. They probably hit three or four buckets in the lane and started gaining confidence in themselves before we ever responded. We had seasoned players who tried to play one-on-one — doing things on their own. But later we buckled down and started taking better shots and were able to push it back out to 16.”
