MOUNTAIN CITY — Hampton’s girls were tested on Friday night, but escaped Ray Shoun Gymnasium with flying colors.
Denying a late Johnson County rally, the Lady Bulldogs were victorious 57-48 in non-conference basketball action. The Longhorns trimmed a 14-point deficit to four in the fourth quarter.
“We got off to a good start, and had a good spurt in the second half,” Hampton coach Leon Tolley said. “Johnson County, they’re a tough team to play because they make you play their style. Todd does a great job, and it was a game of runs.”
A pair of buckets from Brooke Brown brought the Longhorns within 52-48 with 3:10 remaining. Hampton’s Danielle Guinn then slammed the door with two baskets down the stretch.
