Lady Bulldogs beat Unicoi; Hampton boys fall

ERWIN—Even the cold weekend weather couldn’t hold back the flames of some old-fashioned non-conference rivalry action in Erwin.
The cross-county showdowns on Saturday night gave fans from Hampton High school and the Blue Nation of Unicoi County some tournament-atmosphere feelings, with the second half of the regular season on for both schools.
The second-half comeback in Unicoi County would prove to be enough for Hampton’s squad to score a significant road victory during girls varsity action while some scrappy Blue Devils put the brakes on the visiting Bulldogs to score an upset win in the nightcap.
HHS will be back in action tonight in non-conference action against Johnson County, while Unicoi County will be on break until Friday, squaring off against conference foe Sullivan North.
