Lady Bucs beaten in home finale

JOHNSON CITY — An East Tennessee State University women’s basketball team that shot poorly all afternoon saved its worst “shot” for the closing moments on Saturday’s Senior Day as the Lady Buccaneers fell to USC-Upstate 60-56 at MSHA Center.
Redshirt-sophomore post Tiana Burley delivered the shot — a right hand punch to the face of USC-Upstate post Brittany Starling — earning her an ejection and a suspension going into the first round of the Atlantic Sun tournament.
“I didn’t see it when it happened,” said Lady Bucs head coach Karen Kemp. “I told her that I am going to watch it (on film) of course, over and over again. They called it a flagrant too, and I have been coaching a long time, and I have never had to deal with this.
