Katrina’s Flight 3k will be held Sunday10:00 am | April 12, 2013
The event was started last year in memory of Katrina Bradley, a West Side Elementary student who died from heart complications in June 2011 when she was 6 years old. The walk/run is a fundraiser for the American Heart Association.
West Side kindergarten teacher Vera Peters said the public is welcome to attend the race to participate or to watch the run/walk. The only charge to participate is a donation to the American Heart Association.
“Anyone who wants to come can do that,” Peters said.
Peters said people will start gathering for the run/walk around 1:15 p.m. She said parking will not be available at the school, because streets will be closed for the event. Participants should park at Beef O’Brady’s, West Side Christian Church or Immanuel Baptist Church and walk to the school.
The run/walk will make its way through the side streets of the West Side community. Peters said the path would not come out onto West G Street and that the Elizabethton Police Department would be at the event to block streets and to help with traffic flow.
