BLOUNTVILLE – Happy Valley’s basketball team was simply too hard to handle in Tuesday night’s TMSAA East Tennessee Area 1 AA semifinals.
The Warriors disposed of Holston 47-24 at the Dickie Warren Dome.
“We went out there with an objective in mind, and I thought we took care of it,” Happy Valley coach Rik Anderson said. “We wanted to go out there and play hard from the first tip till the horn went off at the end, and I really felt like we did. I don’t think I could ask any more of them, as far as effort-wise – and that was everybody we put in the game.”
The Junior Warriors (18-2) advance to Thursday night’s championship against Bluff City (16-1) at 7:45.
Austin Hicks, Happy Valley’s dominant force all over the court, fired in 19 points and hauled in 12 rebounds while making two steals. Seth Blevins added 10 points and three steals.
Dylan Townsend also made three steals. Brayden Sams delivered six points, 10 boards and three steals.
Dillon Barlow scored six. The Warriors were 1 of 4 at the foul line, and held a 33-27 advantage on the glass.
