Jr. Highlanders capture Trailblazer

Roan Mountain was sure to make a a statement during the last day of the Next Level Trailblazer Classic.
Highlander Magic struck in Gray as Cloudland took home the top prize in the tournament by defeating Ross N. Robinson Middle School 37-31 in front of a packed house at Daniel Boone High School during the Saturday night finale.
It was nights like Saturday that make coaching worth it, according to Jr. Highlanders coach Jordan Hughes.
“I thought our guys really fought through the entire game,” he added. “I questioned our toughness in the season, but they really proved themselves on the court tonight and I couldn’t be prouder of them.”
The Jr. Highlanders opened up the game on a 7-0 run in the first quarter, but RnR would close out the the opening period with a single-digit lead.
