Jr. Bulldogs too much for Cranberry

J.C. Campbell Stadium became “Six Flags” over Hampton plus two dozen more in junior high football action on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs were able to overcome 18 penalties in a 40-22 season-opening win over Cranberry (N.C.).

The miscues cost Hampton a total of 120 yards and two scores. Still, head coach Daniel Arnett saw some things he liked.

“We’ve got to be in sync on the snap count and our linemen have got to hurry up to the line,” he said. “We’ve got to get better fundamentally and improve on our execution. We tried to rotate kids in because we’ve got more kids this year that can play. Some of those penalties were my fault because we changed up the formation several times. On the positive side, I thought our line blocked well and our backs ran hard. It’s better to win your first game than it is to lose it.”
