Now this weekend, six years after her church debut, the Hunter Elementary School third-grader will be stepping onto a new stage — and along with several Broadway professionals, too.

It’s all part of the “(One) Singular Sensational Evening (Again)” event that will be held at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center Saturday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m. All proceeds from the event will benefit Niswonger Children’s Hospital.

Alexis remembers singing “Amazing Grace” at Lynn Valley Baptist Church in Elizabethton, and she said she was “scared the first time I sang.”

“But it was good,” Alexis recalls. “I used to listen to music when I was little and try to sing with it. I love to sing, because it lets me tell about who I am and what I like to do.”

Over the years, Alexis continued to sing at her church and performs in the children’s choir and takes part is special performances for the holidays. She also sings solos at the church and has performed with her older brother, Michael, before.

Her favorite songs to sing are contemporary Christian songs such as “I Can Only Imagine” by Mercy Me and “Hold Me” by Jamie Grace.
