During the time allotted for trick-or-treating, hundreds of children are expected to visit downtown to collect candy from the businesses that take part in the holiday event.

“We hope all the children come out and enjoy the trick or treating,” said Downtown Business Association President Cathy Shoun. “It will be a good time for everyone. This is also a way for the downtown businesses to let the community know that we appreciate them.”

The Elizabethton/Carter County Public Library and the Elizabethton Parks and Rec Department are teaming up to offer a new set of activities for the downtown trick or treaters.

The Halloween Trick or Treat Spooktacular Block Party will be held on Armed Forces Drive from 3-6 p.m. The party will include performer Mr. Bill who will be doing magic tricks and balloon animals; inflatables and a DJ. There will also be a costume contest and a scream contest.
