BLUFF CITY—Sullivan East wanted to run, but Johnson County wanted to slow it down. The Patriots were the ones who had their wish granted.
The Patriots went on a late first-quarter spurt and increased the advantage with a 24-11 run in the second quarter en route to a convincing 62-43 win to remain undefeated in the Three Rivers Conference (4-0) — with contests against Happy Valley and Unicoi County coming up next week.
The Longhorns (1-3, 8-13) will look to break a 10-year drought against Unicoi on Tuesday night, but on this night all they could think about was how East’s tempo was dominating the game.
The Patriots got after it on the offensive and defensive ends and broke open a close game early and turned it into a rout.
