Highlanders stay on track

North Greene was hoping for a Hershey’s “Payday-like” performance against Cloudland, but the Highlanders wouldn’t bite on it. Instead, they served the “Pack Dogs” up a big “Zero.”

Zac Benfield, Colby Birchfield and Austin Whitehead combined to rush for 410 yards, leading third-ranked Cloudland past the Huskies 40-0 on Friday night at John Orr Field.

North Greene played well at times and looked vastly improved. But the explosive ground attack launched by Cloudland did mass destruction on the boys from Baileyton.

“We started out pretty good, in my opinion,” said Cloudland head coach Brock Pittman. “We moved the ball, but just wasn’t able to score. North Greene is well coached — Scotty Verran does a great job. They had guys in the right places and they were prepared. But our guys executed well and played outstanding on defense. Anytime you shut a team out, it’s a great feat regardless of who it is.”
