Highlanders pull out tight game with Warriors

A “Brock” solid performance by the Highlanders against Happy Valley left them on “Cloud” nine after Friday night’s game.
The Highlanders shocked a large crowd on Warrior Hill by escaping with a 21-18 win.
It was a signature victory for the ninth-ranked Highlanders, who are now 2-0 on the season. For head coach Brock Pittman, it was a great performance by his team, which was reeling late in the game.
“We’ve got some tough kids up here in Roan Mountain,” said Pittman. “They never backed down or gave when our backs were to the wall. That’s a very good and well-coached football team that we beat out there with some great athletes. I’m happy for our kids, the school and community. This definitely is a huge win because not many people gave us a chance.”
