Highlanders outlast Bulldogs in double OT
10:18 pm | February 9, 2013Hampton and Cloudland gave fans a “Energizer Bunny-like” performance on Friday inside a standing-room-only Sonny Smith Gymnasium.
For six quarters they kept going and going with their batteries fully juiced. The Highlanders finally eked out a 84-80 win that took two overtimes. Afterward, players from both squads appeared drained.
“We had so many kids step up tonight and make big plays with Devin Whitehead out,” said Cloudland coach Brandon Carpenter. “Zac (Benfield), Logan (Russell) and Matt (Houston) tall stepped up and so did Mason (Carnett). Of course (Zac) Potter, Dylan (McClellan) and Taylor (Whitehead) played lights out. Our effort was off the charts.”
