Highlanders edged by Webb

JOHNSON CITY — There was no doubt about the palpable nature of Cloudland’s die-hard effort on the court. In the end though, hanging tough and outscoring the Spartans in the fourth would not be enough to counteract key mistakes along with a hot-handed Knox Webb Spartan squad.

The Highlanders fell in the closing seconds at the Topper Basketball Palace 65-62 Friday night.

The final four minutes of this one were as pulse pounding as the winter game gets.

The drama of the second game in the Double Tree Round Ball Classic really began to unfold when shooting guard Logan Russell cut the Spartan lead to six with a trey from past the professional line with 3:57 remaining.
