Hampton takes measure of University High

Hampton earned a clean sweep with Ajax-like performances. The ’Dogs helped tidy things up a bit with an impressive 57-38 win in the boys game. The Lady Bulldogs cruised to a 52-15 victory in the girls’ game.

Hampton’s created a log jam in the Watauga Valley Conference race by scoring an impressive 19-point win over University High.
The Bulldogs used eight points in the first quarter by Wesley Murray to grab a 15-11 advantage. A 3-0 lead was the only time in the game that the Junior Bucs held the upper hand.

Not even a young Perry Mason could have defended his client better than Hampton defended the Lady Junior Bucs.
Alexis Bowers tallied eight first-quarter points which doubled UH’s output. By halftime the Lady Bulldogs led 33-7 and Bowers had scored a dozen. She along with sharpshooting guard Dorothy Dugger would tie for scoring honors in the game with 15 points apiece.
