Hampton girls win, boys lose at buzzer

AFTON — Hampton’s girls will ride a solid victory into the postseason after the Lady Bulldogs came from behind to close out the regular campaign with a 57-49 win over Chuckey-Doak here Tuesday night.
The Bulldogs will hopefully go into the district tournament with a chip on their shoulder after letting one slip away. Chuckey-Doak trailed by more than a dozen in the first quarter but outscored Hampton the rest of the way, snagging a win for the home team 51-48 on a buzzer beater.
Hampton’s boys begin the District 1-A Tournament on Friday night at Science Hill, where they will take on North Greene. The Lady Bulldogs are off until Saturday when they play North Greene.
