Good spring showing for Highlanders

Just like the Rhododendrons, which began blooming recently, the Cloudland Highlanders were attempting to bud into a good football team during spring practice. And their head coach is hoping they did.
Coach Brock Pittman begins his second season as head coach after an 8-4 campaign. The Highlanders were defeated by Coalfield in the second round of the playoffs after defeating Midway in the opening one.
“We had 34 kids out for spring drills and several of those were freshmen,” said Pittman. “Those young guys were going up against the varsity team. They’re young but they did an outstanding job. They’re smart and they’re coachable. They got better every day.”
