Good Samaritan Ministries, Inc. will hold its annual Back-2-School Picnic at 4 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 4.

Organizers are expecting to serve more than 1,200 people at the picnic, with state officials expected to be on hand.

Eligible children involved in the Summer Food Program/Back-2-School program will be picking up these supplies this Sunday.

“We expect to give over 400 children a backpack filled with school supplies for the upcoming school year,” said Doug Read, Church and Community Relations with Good Samaritan Ministries Inc.

The backpacks will be distributed at Cardinal Park in Johnson City. The evening meal will be served at 5 p.m. The backpack and clothing distribution will begin at 6 p.m.

Afterward, families can enjoy attending the ball game between the Johnson City Cardinals and the Elizabethton Twins.
