A Carter County family is appealing to the sense of goodwill in the community this holiday season to help support their family while 3-year-old Jagger Ritchie undergoes treatments for leukemia at St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis.
Jagger was diagnosed with Pre-B ALL Leukemia on Wednesday, Nov. 14, after becoming sick earlier that week. Ethel Carlyle, Jagger’s grandmother, said Jagger had begun feeling sick and was taken to an urgent care clinic the Tuesday before. He was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection and an ear infection.
On Nov. 14, he woke up and was unable to walk. His mother, Micah Estep, took him back to the urgent care clinic, which referred Jagger to the Niswonger Children’s Hospital. There, blood tests revealed he had leukemia.
