JOHNSON CITY — “We’re going to do this the right way. We’re starting a team from the ground up.”
With those words from President Dr. Brian Noland, the expected became official during Tuesday’s press conference at the Culp Center: Football is returning to ETSU, and with the help of former University of Tennessee coach and College Football Hall of Famer Phillip Fulmer.
The Vol legend joined the Buccaneer team as a consultant and special assistant to interim athletic director Dr. Richard Sander — and will help oversee the foundation of the program, including the hire of the program’s first head coach, over a four-month period.
