The team that was at the top most of the season finished it on top. Friendship Hyundai, the number one seed in 9-10 year-old Cal Ripken League baseball, took the tournament championship on Saturday afternoon at Larry Brown Field.
The Auto-men upended Valley Forge Auction 6-3 behind solid pitching and timely hitting, two key ingredients for any winning squad.
Alex Wheeler started on the hill for Friendship and was staked to an early three-run lead in the last of the first. Silas Browning led things off with a single and Hank Howard drilled a triple into right field to give Hyundai a 1-0 lead.
Howard scampered home on a wild pitch for a 2-0 lead. One out later, catcher Alex Browning singled to the infield and Wheeler drew a free pass to put runners on first and second.
