The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that Wendell Wayne Buchanan, 51, Blountville, was armed with a gun and forced his way behind the pharmacy’s counter to retrieve prescription medications.

Police said a man wearing a mask threatened the lives of the employees during the robbery, which took place on Jan. 7 around 5 p.m. The release said a list of painkillers was presented to the pharmacist, who complied with the request. The man reportedly fled the scene on foot.
