First Hampton football camp in the books

Hampton High School’s football program is as solid as any in the state, and coach Mike Lunsford’s track record of success can’t be questioned.
Carter County’s dean of coaches isn’t letting up at the age of 51.
Building for the future, Lunsford put together the inaugural Hampton Football Skills Camp this week. It wrapped up on Thursday night at J.C. Campbell Stadium after three evenings of workouts.
“We’re just trying to get it started,” Lunsford said. “We’ve had a lot of people in the community wanting us to do it. We decided we’d try to put it on.
“We had some conflicts with bible school and school events, so on and so forth, but we’ve had 20-25 kids. I guess it’s worth trying to get one started.”
