Fire call results in meth-related charges9:39 am | October 30, 2012
A local man faces methamphetamine manufacture charges after fire destroyed his home this weekend.
The Carter County Sheriff’s Department has charged Ricky Wayne Oliver, 54, of 111 Dan Cole Road, Elizabethton, with promotion of methamphetamine manufacture, initiation of a process intended to result in the manufacture of methamphetamine and maintaining a dwelling where narcotics are manufactured or sold.
Deputy Brian Smithpeters said he responded to 111 Dan Cole Road at 1:39 a.m. Sunday on the report of a structure fire. When he arrived, Smithpeters spoke to Penny Oliver, who said she had been in the back of the residence with another individual when she heard the kitchen window explode and the lights went out. Oliver said the kitchen was on fire at that time. Oliver said she, her husband, Ricky Oliver, and the other individual then exited the residence.
