Fast turnaround for Cloudland football team

October 6, 2011 won’t go down in the history book as a historical day in the sports world — but many Highlander fans still remember it.

That night, Cloudland defeated Kings Academy 28-7 for its only win of the season. It came after six consecutive defeats, two weeks after the midway point.

Through the Highlanders’ first five games, they had scored only 16 points and were nowhere near having any statistical leaders.
Two years later, the Highlanders have plenty to celebrate.

Their 45-21 win over Unaka on Friday left them unbeaten at 5-0. For the second consecutive week, they’re ranked No 5 in the AP Class 1-A state polls.
