JOHNSON CITY — Call them the comeback kids.
East Tennessee State’s freshman trio of Lester Wilson, Mario Stramaglia and Petey McClain grew up on the MSHA Athletic Center floor Saturday, sparking a second-half surge as the Bucs overcame a 19-point deficit and stunned Atlantic Sun leader Florida Gulf Coast, 85-75.
Trailing by 19 with 16:52 remaining ‘Super Mario’ Stramaglia and McClain got the wheels turning, then a third freshman, Wilson, joined forces with senior Jarvis Jones and sophomore John Walton to push the Bucs over the top with runs of 14-2 and 18-3, respectively to overtake the lead.
