JOHNSON CITY — Putting four players in double-figure scoring and surviving a 24-point swing, East Tennessee State University found a way to knot the score at 78-78 with 34 ticks on the clock.
From there, however, a bad decision on a three-point shot and made free throws from Jacksonville University down the stretch enabled the Dolphins to pull out an 83-80 victory at MSHA Athletic Center Thursday night.
“It’s a tough loss obviously,” stated Buccaneers head coach Murry Bartow. “It was right there, but they made more plays in the last two minutes than we did. For us to score 80 points and lose is disappointing.
“I thought we should have been up by 15 at the half, but we didn’t defend well enough — and in the first 10 minutes of the second half they really out played us.”
