Two months after a woman accused a local liquor store co-owner of groping her while she was shopping, Carl Ray Nidiffer was issued a criminal summons by Elizabethton Police Department Sgt. Chris Bowers on a charge of sexual battery.

Nidiffer, 73, 1675 Broad St., Elizabethton, co-owner of Doe River Wine and Spirits, was issued the summons Monday. The incident was alleged to have happened on Nov. 25 inside the store at 630 Broad St.

When asked about the duration of the investigation, EPD Capt. Joy Markland said the officers wanted to make sure every aspect of the incident was investigated.
