Elizabethton standout DeMoss picks King

It came down to a pair of conference rivals. In the end, Reazyn DeMoss went with her “best option.”

The Elizabethton senior and multiple-sport standout chose basketball and King University Wednesday, signing a letter of intent for Coach Josh Thompson and the NCAA Division II Lady Tornado.

DeMoss could have taken her talents to the next level on the hardwood or the softball diamond, but a solid senior season and improbable state tournament run by the Lady Cyclones brought several hoops offers to the table and an opportunity to fulfil a dream.

“It’s definitely a blessing,” DeMoss said after her signing ceremony. “I never thought I would’ve been able to play college basketball. My senior year I got a lot of offers and overall I loved King. I’m glad they gave me a scholarship and an opportunity to play.”

At King, DeMoss will join former teammate Chelsea Bowling and fellow Lady Cyclone senior Whitney Roberts on the collegiate floor. She was torn between King and fellow Conference Carolinas member Lees-McRae, but the Bristol school stood out most.

“It came down to King and Lees-McRae really,” said DeMoss. “I really liked Lees-McRae too, but overall I just thought King was my best option. I know Chelsea Bowling and then Whitney is going there. … It’s definitely good going up there knowing some people.”
